Police investigates lewd emails
NAPLES, Fla.- A criminal investigation is underway after a sexually explicit e-mail showed up in the inboxes of Naples City Council members.
The message detailed a laundry list of alleged misconduct within the Naples Police Department.
It also had several attachments containing photographs of a female officer engaging in sex acts.
The message was sent anonymously Monday night.
Naples Police Chief Tom Weschler says, “It’s a cowardly act and it’s something that we take very seriously.”
Chief Weschler was in a closed door meeting for much of the day Thursday with the City Attorney and City Manager to discuss the issue.
He says they will pursue cyberstalking and libel charges.
The e-mail alleges a married female officer had sex with multiple co-workers while on duty.
One incident is said to have happened recently during training in Washington DC.
“We looked into that. We checked with police departments up there. We checked with the alleged victims with our police department and there seemed to be nothing going on,” Weschler said.
Chief Weschler says he has not taken any action towards any of the employees named in the e-mail.
The female officer in the photographs was promoted in February of this year.
